Goodbye!!!

Sometimes the things in life that help us survive are also the things that come to an end. I said goodbye to Gertrude in October 2014. A chapter ended and a new one has begun...

Another Small Step...

So a few weeks ago in trying to live in my house year round we did some more work. When the weather is lower 90's or in the 80's I can get the bedroom cool enough to sleep if I put the a/c on when I get home from work by midnight it's cool enough to sleep. I want, make that need, my own place so in trying to make it happen quicker I decided when it got to hot to cool down until 3-4am then I bought enough insulation to do my walls thinking anything would help a little and it did until we hit the upper 90's & then the triple digits. LOL. I have a decent sized window unit but the heat in the rafters is just too much for the unit to keep up with. It worked for a few days and I had to move out and back in with Mom and Dad. This was the end of July because it was my birthday present to myself. LOL

Dad measured & cut the insulation

Mom put it in the spaces

I was the stapler!!! LOL.

Tuesday night I bought a unit that could once totally finished cool my entire house (according to their specs). I doubt it will but I will place my smaller unit in the living room area when we get that end finish. The new big unit is going to have a frame built for it and placed in the bedroom end wall across from my door. Not pretty but functional and that is what I'm about.

I have determined that I am much more country & rustic than I use to realize. LOL. Simple and functional is my goal!!! I search for peace and calm in my home because work & every other area of life is insanely not so. LOL. Somewhere I have to have a place that I can curl up and just take a deep breath and relax. No one to complain or whine, no one to pepper questions at me, just a place I can sit and enjoy the wonderful ME!!! In a couple weeks we will be working again and I'll have more pictures then.

I looked back a couple posts and noticed I haven't posted about the bathroom. ROFLOL!!! You ready for this? I don't have one yet. Instead I'm using a bedside potty (old people kind) and someone referred me to disposable bags that have a product in them to congeal everything and make it where you dispose of it. Not my most favorite place to potty but when nature calls at 3am because you take BP pills with a diarectic (however it is spelled). LOL. It works in a pinch. Then you "wash" your hands with antibacterial wipes and hand cleanser. I don't understand it all myself but I do know the peace I feel in that little unfinished cabin is worth every struggle & trial!!! Someday it will be finished and I'll be proud to say our sweat & blood built it.!!!

My Living Quarters for now.

So when you live on a "farm" this is what happens on the front porch. LOL. I always have a greeters team. Sara Jayne & Sassy Marie are sweet girls that like the porch because my big dog does not. So they spend there resting time on my porch away from the dog. LOL.

I get requests asking for pictures of my house now. It's such a slow process because I'm working on it as I can afford it. So I save up and do a little bit and then save up, etc. I'm sure I have a couple years at the pace I'm going now. LOL. I had been staying with Mom and Dad but this passed weekend and this week I've worked hard after work and one day we moved the bed out there, then the next day we got it set up and made and then got the a/c moved and hooked up and that is how it goes. I've been working hard at making it homey the best I can. Here is part 1 of my space. The rest of this room is still a work in progress. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it finished and presentable as it can be at this point. I like it, it's home and I've been fighting a overwhelming sense of stress from every angle. I thought I was losing it, I couldn't remember anything, simple things seemed too big to handle and I moved out here where I have my ME time and it's peaceful and quiet!!! Stress level is a little better.

Tomorrow I'll get the other parts finished and post more pics... Oh and my bathroom???

Waiting Is The Hardest Part...

I'm in a waiting period, I wait on God to provide the money or some supplies and then we work... Then I wait. :-) I've lived all my life knowing that God has my future in His hands and He will provide everything when I am ready.

So for now I wait... I know God has brought me to each step and now I have to trust Him to finish it.

Even when I'm sleeping on a couch and living out of a suitcase. Can't find clothing items and shoes half the time. It's discouraging alot of the time but I have told God that while I'm waiting in all of these different areas of my life I'll work for Him in whatever area He opens the door. I know He has the best planned for me...

Make that 1 year a 5 year??? LOL.

So I'm behind on my house getting finished. So much goes on and to be involved my house is set aside which kinda stinks but, Oh well. So because I can't keep the temp regulated I've had to stay in the house. I figure God is probably finding some humor in making me stretch my patience. LOL. I really thought the main part would be finished by now but here I wait to have my electric finished and it's soooooooo close.

It's all good. I have been able to make a few decisions when means changes. Hehe. Glad we decided to go ahead with the extra 220 outlets because my A/C thoughts have changed. LOL. I now think I'm closer to deciding on cabinets and maybe just maybe after Easter things will slow down so I can do a little work out there? I mean, I put up my Christmas tree and I went out the other day and took the decorations down but the tree still stands. LOL. My house right now is my oasis when I can't take another moment of stress. There are days I Looooooooong for my house to be finished so I can hide away from stupidity, but for now it's brief moments here and there.

Questions

People are always curious about what I'm doing so if you read this and are nosy, the only way to know is ask. You want to know something about me? You gotta ask!!! LOL. Ask away and the ones I can I'll answer.

Otherwise hold on to your hat and get ready for the ride.

Next post I'm going to post pics of the beginning of the sheet rocking and insulating.

See you soon.

Heat... LOL

So yeah, I sort of life a Little House on the Prairie existence I guess. LOL. I thankfully have a tad of electric but no running water yet, no potty and no a/c or heat of any major sort. Since the house isn't totally insulated it gets really cold inside when it's really cold outside. LOL. If it's 25 outside it's at least 27 inside. Haha, I really don't know that but it's how it feels. Everyone wants to know do I really sleep in my house when it's that cold and the answer is Yes I DO!!! It took a couple cold nights to learn the secret but I stay snug as a bug in a rug... literally.

I have a window unit I can use when it's not too awfully hot. This summer it did get hot enough that I couldn't stay out there and had to sleep on Mom and Dad's couch and right now I've been very sick, with fever and such so I have chosen to stay at Mom and Dads until I'm well and then back out I will go.

I love it, don't regret it. Actually it aggravates me that I'm sick. LOL.

Here is my little source of heat. If you wrap a blanket around you and leave a little place at the bottom open the heat will get in the blanket and keep you plenty warm. LOL. At least until you move around. Haha. So here's my little heater, thanks Pam for finding it for me, I need about 3 more this size or smaller that are very nice looking.
